addicted to love

this week’s twisted mix tape tuesday topic is addicted to you.  i immediately start thinking about songs about the kind of love that crosses the line between passionate and obsessive.  i tend to think all love tends to the obsessive, from time to time, or at least this is the justification i am using to keep my list a little more lovey dovey than stalkerish.

i think few love affairs manage to avoid a few patches where you just don’t know where you stand.  so i give you the clash, should i stay or should i go?

having delivered two nine pound babies, the words “ring of fire” don’t have the same connection for me as they used to.  but i will always count johnny cash’s “ring of fire” as one of the most powerful songs about love.

when i think of song lyrics fraught with passion and yearning, melissa etheridge always comes to mind.  i think this has always been one of my favorites.

and because finally, not all our loves are requited, a song by the smiths celebrating loss.  this song brings back all of the heartbreak of high school.  no one can sing misery like morrissey.
