in honor of mr p’s birthday, i wanted to share one of the awesome things about him (and there are many).
they had a teaching conference last week. two full days of meetings and keynote speakers and break-out sessions. any of my readers that have been, or are, teachers know that these things are usually terribly dull. teachers make terrible students, and i was usually surrounded by people grading papers (at best) or passing notes.
while sometimes it is nice to get a two day break from school and students, i usually found it to be a close call on whether it was really an improvement.
did mr p enter into his conference with dread? no! he told me that for him, even when he thought the speakers were doing a poor job, or giving out information he thought was incorrect (or useless) it gave him an opportunity to ponder the better way or the correct answer.
how awesome is that attitude? it is something i am going to try to emulate the next time i am facing a situation i dread, for whatever reason!

happy birthday. It’s always happy to celebrate someone.
