the squirm has been extra tempestuous this week! i have several theories on the problem, but i honestly have no idea what is going on.
you’ll notice that he is blurry in all these pictures? that is because he hasn’t been still in two weeks.
running, bouncing, screaming, crying….if you can name, it happens in a dizzying rotation that has my equilibrium shaken and my patience pushed to the max.
bounce bounce bounce! my suspicion is, and i am guessing, that a combination of allergies and daylight savings have the squirm waking up a good 2-3 hours earlier the past few weeks, which could lead to him becoming overly tired and then insane in the membrane?
i also hear moms say that allergies cause a dramatic spike in the autistic symptoms they see in their kids…maybe there is some merit to that? whatever the cause, it is definitely testing me. i work hard to always present a calm, loving demeanor to the kids. i don’t want them to feel like they have upset or enraged me, but whew, some days this is harder than others!
fortunately, today we embark on a week of vacation. so maybe the squirm can catch up on his rest, and recover a little bit on sanity. we hope to get him lots of exercise and fresh air, run some of those sillies out!!

Sending you love and hugs.
‘Equilibrium’ may be the important word here? Temple Grandin talks about how comforting she finds swinging and rocking. Maybe a gentle swing at the park and some rocking in Mama’s arms together with a lullaby would help?
I have a calming kids exercise on my blog http://hakea.wordpress.com/2011/03/06/calming-kids/, and also a beautiful lullaby for the end of the day http://hakea.wordpress.com/2011/01/29/a-lullaby-for-little-kids/
My kids have been in exhausted mode since the change of the clock to daylight savings time. I have found that reducing their tv time (nothing until after 7pm) has helped significantly here. They are now finding their own rhythm and playing so much more. And when they do watch tv it’s something quiet (no Ben 10 or Star Wars) and gentle (like a documentary by David Attenborough).
Hopefully the young fella settles down soon!
great ideas! thank you! i hoping have this week off from school will let him catch up on his rest too!
Hope his health.Take care. I also have a cold this week.
My #5 is always on the move. He’s like a dervish. His dad used to get fabric burns from trying to hold him when he was little. Hope he returns to calm soon!
