well, despite our good intentions, the summer has turned out to be a bit…dull. i mostly blame the heat, what kind of fun can you really have with two little kids when it is over 100 degrees day after day? we have had some good times, but not the adventures we originally had planned.
in an attempt to shake the doldrums a little, we got up saturday morning and went to the austin zoo to visit our animal friends.
the squirm was glad to visit with the goats in the petting zoo.
he did not like the geese, who were extra loud this weekend.
fortunately we were able to catch the zoo train, and the ride cheered everyone up.
we didn’t stay too long, due to the rising temp, but everyone enjoyed getting out and about a little!
sounds like the geese were complaining about the heat too.
we have 45 degrees celsius here (about 113 fahrenheit) on a regular basis in our summer. it’s difficult to go out because our kids are so fair-skinned, they get very crispy in the sun.
we catch up on lots of movies, and enjoy salads, summer fruits, and iced drinks on those hot, hot days. the boys go outside in the late afternoon when it has cooled down a bit and play backyard cricket until 9 at night. the flying foxes come down to feed off the insects attracted by the flood lights.
ah summer, only four months away.
The zoo rain sounds fun.My children also don’t like the geese although his face is funny.
Have a great summer day.:)
