My excitement at the beginnings of broccoli has been tempered by a direct hit from a soccer ball. And I mean my flourishing floret took the hit and I guess I’ll be keeping my eyes open for another one.

Awww, sorry to hear that – did the ball knock the floret clean off?
it just broke part of the way through? i don’t know why i am so attached to these plants.
well it was cute π
and the thing with broccoli is that there will be more π
Broccoli is great at rejuvenating…
i am keeping my fingers crossed. do i need to bandage it?
How nice. Take care of insect pest.
I failed to grow broccoli last year.
Brassicaceous vegetables are difficult for me to grow. π
this is my first time to try, and i am pleased they are hanging in there. my snow peas are struggling, i think because it has already been so hot! i might have to try again in the fall.
I hope they’re as delicious as fresh broccoli should be…
Play elsewhere and let your broccoli thrive π

Hi Phrogmom
Haven’t heard from you in a while. Hope you are travelling well.
That broccoli should recover, they are tenacious plants.
When we lived in CT, we had a big kitchen garden…I would plant my broccoli in February! And then spent the next two months covering each seedling to protect it from the frost at night. Lots of work…but we had the earliest broccoli around. π
Thanks for bringing back those wonderful memories.
That sounds very determined!
