it’s a great night for geeks

i was going to attempt a serious post today, but as my head is still jam-packed full of snot, i thought i would instead talk about how dang excited i am about what is on tv tonight!

for a while friday night has brought me a chance to sample two of my guiltiest pleasures.  battlestar galactica and ghost whisperer.  let me just tell you how extraordinarily lucky i am.  i ran off and married an almost perfect stranger (that’s a story for another day), and that perfect stranger is not only a bsg fan, but watches ghost whisperer with me too.

for all of you sci fi purists, i don’t mean to imply that ghost whisperer is in any genre of the same league as bsg.  i know it’s fluff and yes, i am a little ashamed to watch it.  but somehow i got hooked on it at the start.  they almost lost me when they killed off the husband, because their perfect marriage is part of the show’s appeal for me.  but fortunately they put his soul in some other guy’s body, and the love story continues.

so, tonight starts with an appetizer of ghosts on the rampage, then continues with joss whedon’s new show ( i love love love him) the dollhouse. of course reviews are mixed about the show…but surely less than perfect joss whedon is better than no joss whedon at all?

i admit, it is going to be hard for me to deal with what’s her face….Eliza Dushku (who has a really cool name) as anyone but faith, super hot but bitchy alterna-slayer from the buffyverse.  i am open to trying though and i can only hope my perfect hubby can get hooked on the dollhouse as well.  hopefully it won’t go the way of firefly and get us all hooked and then disappear.

even if it’s lame, at least the evening finishes with dessert…bsg.  so far the final episodes have been heavy hitters and i know i am not the only one that gasped when they saw ellen on last week’s scenes from the upcoming episode.  i only hope she is cooler now that she is an outed cylon.

my step-mom just called and offered to pick up bbq for us for dinner tonight from cooper’s, otherwise know as bbq mecca.  if i can pick up a six pack of beer somewhere in the next few hours tonight will be perfect!
